VALENTINE'S makeover

yes this is the same shoot with Sunny, Alexandra and photographer Priscilla Gragg but I wanted to do two different posts since this is so appropriate for Valentines Day. Having said that-HAPPY VALENTINES!

Valentine's Day is all about the snuggles, hugs and kisses so you definitely want to make sure your makeup can withstand all of that - and more :)

-foundation: make sure your foundation is long lasting. use a silicone based formula (face and body by Makeup for ever) and/or set your foundation with a setting spray (MAC Fix+) to avoid loosing some foundation on your man's shirt

- eyes: use in a smudge proof liner (I love 24/7 pencils  and liners form Urban Decay) and a waterproof mascara (smokey lash by Makeup for Ever). You don't want to cry and have a horrible black line running down your face. Scary! (for him and for you)
You can also secure your eyeshadow by using a primer and/or using a wet brush. Simply grab your eyeshadow using a brush and spray your brush with Fix+. This will add insurance to your eyeshadow but also will intensify the color, so keep that in mind.

-lips: keep the KISS PROOF (the most important in my opinion) by using a lip stain (Covergirl outlast lipstain or Stilla lipstains) followed by lip balm to keep your lips moisturized.
If you do decide to go with a bolder color use a long wearing lipstick ( Maybelline superstay 24hr or Covergirl outlast lip color) OR use your favorite lipstick, blot the excess, set it with a loose powder, blot the escess and add one more layer of the same lipstick. HE will appreciate the extra work- they hate wearing your lipstick.

A couple days ago I found out that my work got published in a FRENCH magazine!!!!
I am so stoked about this.
I can't  even remember when I did this shoot with photographer Chris Steinbach but I do remember that it was a late afternoon in LA studio. It was only the photographer, model, and me.

a day of hard work with Sunny

Sometimes I have to pinch myself..... how many people can call a day at the beach, running, laughing, playing dress up, and hanging with cool people WORK? Really!?!?

MAKEUP TIP: Always be VERY conscious of the location and the overall feel of the shoot. Just because a think blue eyeliner is trendy that doesn't mean that its appropriate for the concept. Believe me, a little is MORE.

I wanted the makeup to look fresh and natural so I basically just used a brozer to contour. a light application of a peach shadow and did a bare pink on the lips.
I like to choose ONE area where I can play a bit more with color, this time I choose the lips (if we do color on her eyes, cheecks, lips..... then it could look too overwelming).

I love all the wardrobe and fun pieces that Alexandra brought. Such a sweet and fun stylist to work with.

TEST shoot

When we get together on a Friday afternoon.......

I've been very fortunate to meet and build great friends through my job as a makeup when my friend Chesley stylist and blogger  from smile for style told me that she was shooting for her blog and needed help with makeup of course I jumped into the opportunity to work with her.

She is a former model (obviously, she's so pretty) that follow her love for fashion and became a stylist. and all though we work together all the time this was the first time I got to do her makeup (finally!!!)
